What changes for Irish senders

If you run a small shop, review the DHL Express costs used in your postage budget and customer delivery charges before the new rates take effect. For a household parcel, use the quote for that shipment to set your budget.
International time definite and day definite services face a demand surcharge
DHL Express applies its demand surcharge to international time definite and day definite services. Its stated period overlaps the start of the annual rate increase.
For parcels using international time definite or day definite services during that overlap, budget for the applicable rate and demand surcharge.
Why DHL says its costs are rising
DHL says its yearly price adjustments account for inflation, currency fluctuations and cost developments specific to the industry.
A spokesperson cited energy costs and compliance and administrative expenses linked to changing customs, regulatory and security measures. DHL also pointed to labour market pressures in many countries.
DHL Express Ireland chief executive Mike Farrell said the adjustment would allow the company to maintain the service and reliability customers expect.
What to do before setting your postage budget
Check the demand surcharge when pricing international time definite or day definite shipments within its stated period. If you have a DHL Express account, confirm how the adjustment applies to your contract rates.
