Where to find the Belfast postbox

The first new parcel postbox stands outside 25 York Street, at Ulster University’s Birley Building. Royal Mail identifies this as the Belfast location.

The box accepts parcels for sending and returns, as well as letters. To use it, the parcel needs its postage label attached before posting.

Check your packed parcel’s dimensions

Measure the outside of your packed parcel before taking it to the box. Royal Mail gives a maximum for each dimension, so check all of them against these limits:

  • Height: up to 24cm.
  • Length: up to 48cm.
  • Width: up to 43cm.

Royal Mail describes these medium-sized parcels as the largest items it has accepted through a postbox.

Prepare a postage or return label

You can use a supplied return label or buy a postage label online through Royal Mail’s Click & Drop service (ChannelX).

For a parcel being sent, buy the postage label and attach it to the parcel. For a return, attach the supplied return label before putting the parcel in the postbox.

How the new boxes fit the network

The new boxes add to 1,400 existing parcel postboxes and 3,500 upgraded postboxes of the future that accept shoebox-sized parcels (Post & Parcel).
