Choose a route using your account details
Start with the An Post account details you hold and the weight of your parcels. EirLink’s own-account route requires an eCommHub business account with API access and its API key. Postage bills directly to that account at the rates you agreed with An Post.
Without that account, EirLink offers An Post labels through an EirPost prepaid balance for parcels up to 2 kg. EirPost says its service needs no An Post business account, contract or monthly minimum.
Shiptheory requires an active An Post account. ShippyPro tells you to obtain an account number from your An Post contact.
Connect EirLink to your Shopify orders
EirLink says new unfulfilled Shopify orders appear within seconds, without copying addresses. Its Shopify App Store listing says it backfills the last 60 days when a store connects. Its integration page describes importing recent unfulfilled orders.
For the own-account connection, have your eCommHub API key ready. For prepaid postage, connect EirPost and use the balance topped up on eirpost.ie. EirLink says connected orders can be labelled in a click or through an automation rule.
EirLink reads customs fields from Shopify products, including weights, HS codes and country of origin. Put those details in your product records before using that workflow. EirLink says its manual orders also carry customs fields, including HS codes and IOSS.
According to EirLink, it also supports live connections to DPD, GLS, UPS and DHL Express. Its free account includes email support from its founders.
Generate EirPost labels from an order CSV
EirPost says you can upload Shopify or Etsy order CSV files to generate labels in bulk. EirLink also accepts CSV imports and manual orders, with labels and tracking.
EirPost labels print on a 4x6 thermal label, according to EirPost. Buy the label online, print it at home and hand the parcel in at any post office. EirPost says the parcel travels through the An Post network with full tracking.
For connected shop orders, EirPost says EirLink can create labels using the same balance and read the balance and tracking. EirLink cannot top up, cancel or change the EirPost account.
Set up An Post label automation alternatives
Shiptheory lists an An Post connection for Shopify and other ecommerce platforms. It says it imports orders, generates labels and customs documents, and updates tracking across connected sales channels.
Shiptheory gives these setup steps:
- Have an active An Post account ready.
- Submit the account number, matching company name and selected services.
- Wait for Shiptheory and An Post to confirm the submitted details before setup is finished.
ShippyPro lists Standard Parcel Post Domestic and Express Packet Post Domestic as available An Post services. Obtain your account number from your An Post contact. ShippyPro tells you to install the app using Add App.
Print labels and set the Shopify update
EirLink says it creates individual labels or batches of up to 100 in one click, merging the batch into one PDF to print. Creating a label pushes tracking to Shopify, marks the order fulfilled and notifies the customer.
Create EirLink labels when you want those fulfilment updates sent. EirLink says it checks An Post for tracking scans roughly every 30 minutes. For its EirPost route, labels print from the EirLink dashboard and parcels can be handed in at an An Post counter or collection.
ShippyPro says its Shopify update option marks an order shipped when the order is transmitted. Review that option during setup so you know which action changes the Shopify status.
Compare app charges and postage
EirLink says it adds no markup and processes no payments. Its own-account postage bills to your carrier account. With EirPost, each label’s displayed price comes off your prepaid balance.
| Tool or plan | Listed charge | Included allowance |
|---|---|---|
| EirLink | €0 a month | Unlimited orders and labels |
| EirPost Plus | €19 a month | Unlimited labels and bulk processing |
| Shiptheory Earth | $62 a month or $600 a year | 1 user, 1 sales channel, 2 carriers and 1,500 shipments a month |
| ShippyPro Pro 250 | $684 a year | 250 shipments a month |
EirLink lists its account charge. EirPost and the Shopify App Store listings for Shiptheory and ShippyPro list their subscription charges. Use your monthly shipment count when comparing their listed allowances.
EirLink’s EirPost page lists discounted domestic labels from €6.90 in the lightest weight band, against €10.00 retail. The discounted rate applies on Plus and to the first three labels of a free account. After those labels, a free account pays retail rates.
Among the prices PostCompare compares, An Post’s cheapest bookable price for a 1 kg parcel within Ireland was €12.25, with delivery in 3–5 days, in prices checked on 5 October 2026. Use the Ireland route page to compare prices for your parcel weight.
Handle weights, balances and failed labels
EirPost asks you to choose the nearest weight band and round up when in doubt. Its bands run up to 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 kg. If An Post bills a heavier band than you declared, EirPost takes the difference from your balance after the monthly invoice.
Top up the EirPost balance by card on eirpost.ie from €10. EirPost says its balances are non-refundable and never expire. EirLink’s EirPost workflow does not charge for a failed label, while EirPost’s help centre says money from a failed label goes back on the balance.
EirLink says it retries failed labels without redoing the whole batch. If An Post accepts a parcel but returns no label, EirLink holds it as Label pending and avoids submitting it again blindly.
For UK addresses, EirLink says it sends the GB country code expected by An Post’s API.
