Fastway and Parcel Connect closure: alternatives for Irish Shopify sellers

Fastway Couriers Ireland entered receivership and stopped trading on 28 October 2025, according to ZigZag. RTÉ reported that Nuvion Group included the now-closed Fastway Couriers Ireland and Parcel Connect services.

Interpath Advisory’s Mark Degnan and Brendan O’Reilly were appointed receivers. ComReg advises customers awaiting retail orders to contact their retailer because their contract is with that retailer.

RTÉ also reported that customers planning returns through the closed Parcel Connect service were advised to contact their retailer. Review your outstanding delivery enquiries and planned returns. Give affected customers your shop’s contact details and instructions for their order.

Record which orders need a delivery response and which customers need replacement returns instructions. Include any collection arrangement linked to a closed service. Deal with those outstanding cases alongside the work of connecting a replacement carrier for new dispatches.

Read the instructions your shop currently gives customers about dispatch, returns and collection. Remove references that direct them to the closed Fastway or Parcel Connect services. Review the material used by whoever packs orders as well as the wording customers receive.

• Check your delivery page and order emails for carrier names and dispatch instructions.
• Check your returns page and saved replies for references to the closed Parcel Connect service.
• Check collection and drop-off instructions for locations or arrangements tied to closed services.
• Check your packing process for the order connection and label workflow you need to replace.

Write down the work your replacement must cover: transferring orders, producing labels, supplying tracking, arranging dispatch and handling returns. Assign each task to the person who will use it. Use this list to review account terms before committing to a carrier or shipping tool.

DPD Ireland says its shipping portal supports linking a Shopify account or uploading orders by CSV. Shipmate offers a Shopify integration with GLS Ireland and another for An Post.

For DPD, open its shipping portal to review the Shopify account link and CSV upload route. Choose the route that fits how you intend to transfer orders from your shop.

For GLS Ireland, review the integration described by Shipmate. For An Post, review Shipmate's corresponding Shopify integration page. Match the chosen connection against your dispatch and returns requirements before moving the work.

Put your agreed account terms beside that requirements list. Check the arrangements for labels, tracking, collection and returns, along with the rate you will pay. Include the person handling customer enquiries so they can prepare the replacement instructions.

Update customer instructions once you have chosen the replacement arrangement. Give the packing team the order-transfer route they will use, whether that is DPD’s Shopify link, its CSV upload option or a Shipmate integration.

Review your label and tracking work with the person dispatching parcels. Write down who produces the label and who supplies the customer with tracking details under the chosen arrangement. Use the agreed process when updating saved delivery replies.

Replace returns wording that sends customers to the closed Parcel Connect service. Include your shop’s contact details and the return instructions applicable to their order. Read the delivery page, returns page and saved customer emails together to catch old references before using the replacement process.

Parcel Motel’s closure email, reproduced by TheCork.ie, was dated 13 January 2023.

According to RTÉ, Parcel Motel announced that its lockers would no longer operate from 31 January. The company said it was contacting affected customers to redirect shipments through other networks.

Remove instructions that still name the closed Parcel Motel service. Identify the job you need to replace: customer collection, outgoing dispatch or returns. For a locker option, require documentation of the seller service you intend to use, including the relevant dispatch or returns arrangement.
