An Post plans to recruit postal delivery staff nationwide to meet growth in its parcel network.
According to Post & Parcel, parcel volumes rose 27% in 2025 compared with the year before. An Post delivered 3 million parcels a week in the run-up to Christmas.
Cheeverstown adds processing capacity
The new parcel processing facility is open at Cheeverstown in Dublin 24. An Post plans to automate it in time for the 2026 peak season.
An Post says the extra staff and Cheeverstown will add capacity until a major new parcels site opens at the end of the decade.
Fastway’s collapse
The growth follows Fastway’s collapse in October 2025, according to the Irish Examiner. Before its closure, Fastway handled 25 million parcels a year and employed 300 workers directly, alongside close to 700 subcontractors and franchise drivers.
